Incaelo

Privacy policy

This policy explains what data the Incaelo app for Android uses, what leaves your phone, who receives it and why. We wrote it to be understood, and so that every sentence is true in the app’s code.

1. In short

  • No accountThere is no sign-up and no login.
  • No server of our ownIncaelo does not receive or store your data on any server of ours.
  • No ads, no analyticsNo advertising, no usage tracking and no automatic crash reports.
  • Your data, on your phoneSites and settings are kept in the app’s private storage.

To give you the forecast, the app sends the coordinates of the site you choose to a few external weather and map services. They are listed in section 4.

2. Who is responsible

Incaelo is an app by iRealWorks Apps. For any question about this policy or your data, write to soporte@incaelo.app.

3. What data the app uses and why

Location

If you grant location permission, the app reads the phone’s position only while it is open, and uses it to compute the sky you see and to request the forecast for that point. The app does not request background location permission. You can decline and pick the site by searching for it by name or placing it on a map.

Saved sites and settings

The sites you save (name and coordinates), the gear you choose, the theme and the rest of your settings are stored on your phone.

Search text

When you search for a place by name, the text you type is sent to the place search service.

Compass and orientation sensors

The sky map uses the phone’s orientation sensors. That data is processed on the phone and never leaves it.

Notifications

Event reminders and “tonight’s the night” notifications are local notifications: the phone itself schedules them. There is no notification server.

If you turn on “Tell me if tonight is worth it”, the app stores your site’s coordinates and data about the coming nights in its private storage, so that a background task can request that site’s forecast in the hours before the time you choose. That task uses the saved site; it does not read your location.

4. What leaves your phone, and who receives it

These are all the external services the app talks to. None of them receives your name, your email or any app or advertising identifier.

ServiceWhat it receivesWhen and why
Open-Meteo
open-meteo.com
The site’s coordinates. For terrain, the chosen point and 193 sample points around it, up to 10 km away. For place search, the text you type and the app’s language.Weather and air-quality forecast, horizon terrain (once per new site) and place search by name.
7Timer
7timer.info
The site’s coordinates.Complementary astronomical forecast.
BigDataCloud
bigdatacloud.com
The coordinates of the point you choose.Naming the site (town or area).
lightpollutionmap.app
lightpollutionmap.app
Only the map tile your site falls in, about 600 km across. It does not receive your point.Estimating light pollution, once per new site.
OpenStreetMap and Esri
osmfoundation.org · esri.com
The map tiles of the area you are looking at.Showing the map (streets or satellite), only while you pick a site on the map.

Two clarifications, so there are no surprises:

  • Coordinates are sent with the precision your GPS or your pin gives: they are not rounded.
  • As with any internet connection, each service sees your connection’s IP address. Each one handles data under its own policy, linked in the table.

If you turn on the “tonight’s the night” notification, your site’s forecast is also requested in the background from Open-Meteo and 7Timer, in the hours before the time you choose.

5. What we do not do

  • We do not ask you to create an account.
  • We do not show ads or use the advertising ID.
  • We do not include analytics, usage measurement or automatic crash-reporting tools.
  • We do not sell data or share it for advertising.
  • We do not read your location in the background.

6. Where it is kept, and how to delete it

Everything the app keeps (sites, settings, the last forecast for offline use and scheduled notifications) lives in the app’s private storage on your phone. You can delete it:

  • By deleting sites in the app.
  • From Android Settings › Apps › Incaelo › Storage › Clear data.
  • By uninstalling the app, which removes everything it keeps.

Android backup: if backup to your Google account is turned on, Android may include the app’s data in it (for example your saved sites and settings), under Google’s terms. You can turn that backup off in your phone’s settings.

7. Android permissions

PermissionWhat for
Precise and approximate locationKnowing where you are, only while the app is open and only if you allow it.
NotificationsEvent reminders and “tonight’s the night” notifications, if you turn them on.
Run at startupRescheduling notifications after the phone restarts.
Internet and network stateRequesting the forecast and knowing whether there is a connection.
Background work (keep awake and foreground service)Used by Android’s background-work library that checks the night for the “tonight’s the night” notification.

8. Children

Incaelo is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.

9. Your rights

Because we keep no data about you on any server, we hold nothing of yours to access, correct or delete: you control it on your phone, as described in section 6. For the data the external services receive, you can exercise your rights with each of them. If you have questions, write to soporte@incaelo.app. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country; in Spain, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos.

10. This website

incaelo.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party resources: everything is served from our own server. Like any web server, it may log technical data about each visit (IP address, date and page requested) for security and operation, for a limited time.

11. Changes to this policy

If the app changes what it does with your data, we will update this page and the date above before releasing that version of the app.
